I have tried and tested this recipe over the years at work and at home. It is always an absolute hit for all ages, so easy and really adaptable. I prefer this recipe over a non-cook recipe as I’ve found  that this one keeps much better. If you wrap it in clingfilm or something airtight and keep it in the fridge it will last for over 6 months! All the ingredients are edible so don’t panic if a small amount finds its way into your child’s mouth, after all taste is initially their strongest sense. I can’t imagine they’ll go back for more. Here is a winter themed playdough recipe.

You will need:

2 Cups of Plain Flour

1 Cup of Salt

2 Cups of Water

2 Tablespoons of Oil

4 Teaspoons of Cream of Tarter

2 Teaspoons Ground Cinnamon (ground ginger or all spice works really well too).

Method:

Chuck everything in a non-stick pan and heat over a low heat.

Stir continuously, it may seem like you’re doing this forever but all of a sudden it will start to come together and create a dough.

Once a dough, turn onto the worktop and kneed for a few minutes.

I like to add some extra natural sensory items for children to explore like cinnamon sticks, star anise, cloves, pine cones etc but you’ll need to tweak this to suit the age of your child.

Done! Simple as that.
